Informational message for all SLE families. We’ve received multiple inquiries regarding why we are in school today since it is a federal holiday. There are multiple federal holidays that schools are required to take off but Martin Luther King Day and President’s Day are two days not required. The district decided to keep with consistency by having school today instead of taking it off. If we took today off, we would have to be in session on Friday, to make up our hours, which also creates a two day weekend and an inconsistent schedule for all. I hope this clears up any confusion and questions. We will also follow this same format in February instead of taking President’s Day office. Please reach out with any questions or concerns as we will begin to work on next years calendar soon.

Good evening SLE families. Next week is national kindness week, even though we should show kindness each and every day, next week we will strongly focus on spreading positivity and
showing appreciation for everyone in our school and community. We started today by creating a kindness tree which you can view in our lobby. Every student received a heart and drew a picture or used words on how they can show kindness. Then each day next week there is a type of kindness we will focus on all day long.
And a reminder- we do have school Monday even though it is President’s Day. We will have a regular week. Enjoy your weekend and come join the fun tomorrow night with a couple movies, good food and a fundraiser for our 5th grade field trip.

Attention SLE 5th-8th grade families,
Today the 5th-8th grade met regarding elective options for 2nd semester. With the middle school format students must complete certain courses by the end of 8th grade so all students were provided a plan of study which outlines what they have taken and what is required. In addition, they were given a list of 2nd semester electives courses being offered with a description. All students, except 8th grade, need to return their 2nd selection choice by Monday so they can be registered for next semester. Our 8th graders are in a different situation since we converted to a middle school this year. Their plan of studies were completed and they were assigned a course based on what they need to complete. Those courses being Spanish, Mixed Media Arts or Musical Wheel. Please reach out if you have any questions or concerns. Thank you.
